I was scrolling through this review area and saw the person who removed all the screws from the metal base cover and got the bulb base out of the socket. In 4 months it will either be fixed or replaced with your competitor's product... Why not just post directions on how to fix it? Then ya'll can stop using glued bulbs in your products. I also have the same issue with my microwave light.

I also don't feel it's very user friendly. This light bulb is a replacement part for microwaves. It provides sufficient light for the interior mircrowave cabinet. Compatiable with select GE brand models.

My guess is a very small amount of power is always on for that bulb socket . But I’m guessing after using the microwave, it still has a little power and that’s why the bulb is glowing. But if I turn it back on and off again with the microwave button, it goes back to a warm glow. Our Whirlpool microwave has three settings for the range light. Every bulb including ones specific for my model will not allow me to turn it off or select from the high low settings. The bulb over heats and smells like it is burning. I can't remove without burning my fingers. LED lights need so little power, that any power leakage can cause them to be dimly lit or flicker. That’s why you have to buy a special dimmer for LED bulbs.
I am leary to put the same type of bulb back in after my experience and reading some of the reviews. I will NEVER bye another Whirlpool microwave, I would never recommend one either. The one I have is just ove a year old and has had to be fixed already on top of this ridiculous light bulb issue.

One dims down to nothing, the other dims to a warm glow. Leviton tech support told me there would be no difference between the two dimmers. However, when you use the toggle switch they do turn off, so it doesn't really matter and I didn't think of this.
If the light bulb threads are corroded, or the bulb base is too large, the socket may also need to be replaced. 25 watt light-bulb for various appliances, 130 volts, small base screw-in. Bulb has been updated and you may need the recommended socket to install this light bulb. Also bulb is no longer blue tint per factory. I bought this microwave umv1160c509, and bulb broke off inside can not get it fixed called whirlpool and they did not Send anyone out to fix it. I bought this microwave about 3 years ago and loved it until the bulb burnt out.
